  • Applicant must be a current member of Madras Library Association (MALA)
  • Joining Date Condition (Relaxed)
  • Nomination fee: ₹1,500/- payable via UPI before form submission
  • Each applicant may apply for one award category only

 RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR MALA AWARDS 

The applicant has to fulfil the following requirements:

  • The applicant has to be a member of The Madras Library Association (MALA).
  •  MALA Members Only .
  • The award nomination fee for applicant will be Rs. 1500 only.
  • An applicant can nominate himself/herself for the award in only one of the categories listed below. 

The Madras Library Association confers the award in 8 various categories:

a) Life Time Achievement Award.

b)  Outstanding Services Award.

c)  Best Social Worker Award.

d)  Best Teacher Award.

e) National Best Librarian Award.

f)  Best Women Librarian Award.

g)  Best Young Librarian Award.

h)  Certificate of Appreciation.

ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION CRITERIA FOR EACH AWARDS

As resolution passed by the committee to be NOTED:

  • The Selection Committee appointed by the Apex Executive Committee will be vested with all rights to include/remove any person or entity in any/all of the mentioned categories without prior notice or reason.
  • The payment can be initiated only through online mode.
  • Applications received by the committee after the deadline will not be considered for award that ensuing year.
  • Applications that are submitted without supporting documents, Prescribed Fee, applications submitted with misleading representations will not be considered. No refund will be given.

1. LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

             This award is the highest honour given by the organization to whomsoever it may concern with no bar for profession,

 *Optional (if attached that will be considered during the shortlisting process)

  • The applicant’s total service in the profession should not be less than 20 yrs.
  • An individual entity who guides/guided M.Phil., Ph. D., scholars or otherwise will be considered an added advantage in the final shortlisting process.
  • Doctorate/continuously good academic or professional record will also determine the final outcome after scrutiny.
  • Merits/Certificates/Honours given by recognized authority on approbation to the applicant’s service or profession or socially impacting works can be attached.
  • Recommendations from a person or institution known at a professional capacity can be attached*

2. OUTSTANDING SERVICES AWARD

             This award is the second-highest honour given by the organization to whomsoever it may concern for which only Librarians can apply,

 *Optional (if attached that will be considered during the shortlisting process)

  • The applicant’s total service in the profession should not be less than 15 yrs.
  • An individual entity who guides/guided M.Phil., Ph. D., scholars or otherwise will be considered an added advantage in the final shortlisting process.
  • Doctorate/continuously good academic or professional record will be denoting factor of who’ll be shortlisted finally.
  • Merits given by MALA or any other recognized authority on approbation to the applicant’s service or profession or socially impacting works can be attached.
  • Recommendations from a person or institution known at a professional capacity can be attached*

3. BEST SOCIAL WORKER AWARD

  • The applicant must have an Social Work experience in the profession for not less than 3yrs. 
  • The number of Social Service Done Brief Profile of the service with authenticated records should be attached. 
  • The recommendation from the Social Service Organization like NSS, any reputed NGO” s Credentials will also be considered.
  • The Home Guard’s, Friends of Police having the experience certificate’s they can also apply for the award. (Necessary documents should be attached.) 

4. BEST TEACHER AWARD

             This award is the conferred to teachers incl. professors (at school/college/university level) for their selfless contribution in building a great society enriched with good values, an award that recognizes the teachers of the country,

 *Optional (if attached that will be considered during the shortlisting process)

  • The applicant should have completed at least 15 years in the teaching profession. 
  • Service excellence merits/certificates given on approbation to the applicant’s service can be attached. 
  •  Recommendations from an educator or institution known at a professional capacity can be attached*

 5.  NATIONAL BEST LIBRARIAN AWARD 

  • The applicant should have completed at least 10 years in the librarian profession. 
  • Service excellence merits/certificates given on approbation to the applicant’s service can be attached. 
  • Doctorate/continuously good academic or professional record will be denoting factor of who’ll be shortlisted finally. 
  • Merits/Certificates/Honours given by recognized authority on approbation to the applicant’s service or profession or socially impacting works can be attached. 
  • Recommendations from a person or institution known at a professional capacity can be attached*

6. NATIONAL BEST WOMAN LIBRARIAN AWARD

  • The applicant should have completed at least 10 years in the librarian profession. 
  • Service excellence merits/certificates given on approbation to the applicant’s service can be attached. 
  • Doctorate/continuously good academic or professional record will be denoting factor of who’ll be shortlisted finally. 
  • Merits/Certificates/Honours given by recognized authority on approbation to the applicant’s service or profession or socially impacting works can be attached. 
  • Recommendations from a person or institution known at a professional capacity can be attached*

7. BEST YOUNG LIBRARIAN AWARD

  • The applicant should have completed at least 5 years in the librarian profession. 
  • Service excellence merits/certificates given on approbation to the applicant’s service can be attached 
  • Merits/Certificates/Honours given by recognized authority on approbation to the applicant’s service or profession or socially impacting works can be attached. 
  •  Recommendations from a person or institution known at a professional capacity can be attached*

8. CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION

  •  Any applicant who is possessing extraordinary qualification and credentials will be awarded with Certificate of appreciation.
  •  The applicant who has completed their Ph.D., can also apply. 
  •  Service excellence merits/certificates given on approbation to the applicant’s service can be attached 
  • Merits/Certificates/Honours given by recognized authority on approbation to the applicant’s service or profession or socially impacting works can be attached.
